Along with Ben, as Dodger; Tahreem, who was working on her GCSE Music composition and Joseph, Mr. Holt's (our Music teacher's) son, I was in the music room from 3-4pm.
Mr. Holt rehearsed us for the hour, running through ‘Consider Yourself’ with Ben first. Though worried about his voice breaking as he sang, he sang really well! The rehearsal was hilarious, due to Mr. Holt; he kept singing with a really high pitch, the same one he’d explained to Ben he could choose to sing in if not the lower one, which really cracked us all up!
After ‘Consider Yourself,’ we went on to ‘It’s a Fine Life,’ (one of my favourites!) which went alright, but I just need to get used to some timings.
Up next for us was ‘Oom-Pah-Pah;’ a song that I am thrilled I get to sing! In response to Sir asking if I’m okay with it, I told him that I’d been through it before with Miss Bailey. This really confused him, considering she has been on maternity leave since just before auditions! I explained that, as we had known what show I'd be auditioning for but not the song I'd be auditioning with, we had been through both ‘As Long As He Needs Me’ and ‘Oom-Pah-Pah’ together. My first run through of the song with Mr. Holt was successful - I couldn't wait to rehearse the full scene!
The hour had come to an end and I knew that both of the songs I had rehearsed needed working on, but was confident I would get there in time and, as ever, with lots of practice.
Stay tuned for my act 2, scene 2 rehearsal!
